Meet Carly!
they/ them
I am a Registered Psychotherapist and Registered Canadian Art Therapist with years of experience providing trauma-informed care. I am dedicated to creating affirming, creative, and culturally safe healing spaces for people of all ages.
I have a special interest in working with the following areas:
· Trauma
· Body Image
· Neurodiversity-affirming care (Autism, FAS, ADHD)
· Grief
· 2SLGBTQIA+ Community
This is about supporting you in your quest for belonging.
With my approach, we use creativity as a way to explore authenticity, identity, and connection, and to imagine a sense of community that truly works for you. You don’t need to be an artist or feel “good” at art. We might use collage, sculpture, music, lyrics, bibliotherapy, writing, or storytelling- whatever supports your expression.
We take a gentle-paced approach to trauma healing. I take time to help you understand your body’s reactions to trauma, including how the nervous system is involved. We build your resources, skills, and feelings of inner safety. Then, when you’re ready, we explore how the memories, the emotions, and the body sensations, impact your life currently, and I help you find a way to creatively take back control of your story. You may learn that you are much more than what happened to you. And you may be surprised about how helpful creativity can be in your healing journey.
Being queer, questioning, or feeling different in some way means carrying experiences that others don’t always see. Living in a world not designed for you can lead to shame or disconnection.
Many queer folks also navigate unique body image struggles, safety concerns, struggles with authenticity, and curiosity about neurodivergence. You deserve support that honours all parts of who you are.
I support people in holding multiple, complex identities with care, so that all parts of you can feel seen and valued.
This approach can be meaningful for people of all ages, including adults and youth. You deserve support that honours who you are, fully.
I have availability for in-person sessions in downtown Hamilton, or virtually from anywhere in Ontario.
